Hello! I'm Shannon, a Cleveland > NYC > Cleveland boomerang, back in the Land as of August 2020. I'm a human-centered researcher, strategist, and designer (user experience and service design), passionate about organizing and aligning people to solve people-centered problems by improving systems, processes, and technology experiences.
Currently, I'm a self-employed consultant working on two different projects — one, more service-design-focused, and the other more UX/UI-focused. I'm a mom of two under 4, and I'm a communications team member volunteer at Showing Up for Racial Justice NEO chapter. In my previous full-time role, as Bernstein Private Wealth Management's VP, Service Design & UX, I led a team of UX researchers and designers working on digital products that face end-clients, advisors, associates, and wealth strategists. I also led strategic service design initiatives that span all Bernstein's touchpoints, teams, and processes, making improvements that resulted in better outcomes for each group of people we supported. During my time in NYC outside of work, I created the Empathy Jam (a hackathon-type event combining UX process + civic engagement), co-authored the Citizen Designer Pledge, and was a co-organizer for The UX Lab (a Meetup group where UX'ers of all experience levels come together to practice and expand their skill sets).
